چکیده
Stabilization of passive harmonic mode locking is achieved for what is believed to be the first time in an Er-Yb soliton fiber laser by optical pumping of the semiconductor saturable absorber above the bandgap. The results show 35-dB mode suppression of undesired harmonics.

Stable multigigahertz pulse-train formation in a short-cavity passively harmonic mode-locked erbium/ytterbium fiber laser.
We demonstrate a short-cavity erbium-ytterbium fiber laser that is passively mode locked by a saturable Bragg reflector with a fundamental repetition rate of 235 MHz . The laser operates in the soliton regime and under passive harmonic mode locking with 11 pulses in the cavity and produces output pulse trains at 2.6 GHz with transform-limited 270-fs pulses and 1.6 mW of average power. Within th...

We demonstrate a diode-pumped Cr:LiSAF laser with controllable and reliable fast switching between its continuous-wave and mode-locked states of operation using an optically-addressed semiconductor Bragg reflector, permitting dyed microspheres to be continuously trapped and monitored using a standard microscope imaging and on-demand two-photon-excited luminescence techniques.
متن کاملShort Cavity Erbium/Ytterbium Fiber Lasers Mode-Locked with a Saturable Bragg Reflector
We present short cavity erbium/ytterbium fiber lasers that are passively mode-locked with a saturable Bragg reflector. The lasers produce sub-500-fs pulses at fundamental cavity repetition rates as high as 300 MHz. Stable passive harmonic operation increases the repetition rate to 2.0 GHz. The mode-locking mechanism in both the normal and anomalous group velocity dispersion regimes is investiga...
متن کاملDiode-end-pumped passively mode-locked high-power Nd:YVO4 laser with a relaxed saturable Bragg reflector.
We demonstrate a high-power passively mode-locked Nd:YVO (4) laser that uses a saturable Bragg reflector (SBR) with strain relaxation. 23.5 W of average power with ~21.5-ps cw mode-locked pulse trains was generated at a 50-W pump power. Experimental results show that appropriate strain relaxation in the SBR makes the mode-locking operation less sensitive to temperature variation.
متن کاملDiode-pumped passively mode-locked multiwatt Nd:GdVO4 laser with a saturable Bragg reflector.
We report a first demonstration, to our knowledge, of a cw passively mode-locked Nd:GdVO4 laser (k = 1063 nm). A relaxed saturable Bragg reflector was used. The laser generates pulses of 9.2 ps at a repetition rate of 119 MHz. As much as 5.4 W of average power was realized with a slope efficiency of 25.7%.
